Toto Cutugno is the stage name of Salvatore Cutugno, an Italian pop singer and songwriter.
He started his musical career as a drummer, but later formed a band that performed his own songs.
In 1976 Cutugno participated for the first time in the Sanremo Music Festival coming up with third place with his band «Albatros». In 1980 he won the festival with the song «Solo noi» («Only us», in Italian). In total Cutugno participated 13 times in the festival.
He became the winner of Eurovision in 1990 with his own composition «Together: 1992», a ballad which celebrated European political integration. He was also a presenter of Eurovision 1991, which took place in Rome as a result of his victory.
